On Treasure

"Arr....Step away from me treasure."

Last night, I had a chance to do a solid devotion after weeks of running around. I've been feeling the need to show down and be still. How refreshing.

The Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl.

44"The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

45"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

Matthew 13:44-46

The one word that struck me was treasure. Intrinsic value. Jesus called for two things, one was to give everything up, but in exchange for something else. I asked myself first, "Why on earth would you give everything up to buy a field which may or may not have anymore treasure when you already have treasure?" The treasure itself is so valuable that it exceeds everything else. It stops me to pause and think if that's how I view the kingdom of heaven right now. Hmmm...

God Answers Prayers

God's been really good through this time.

He's answered prayers for Xara praise night.
He moved the weather to make prayer night happen last week.
He brought our worship team together to get our congregation really singing.
He's bringing in people who are willing to push Emmanuel forward.

God's really working.

My prayer is that I won't settle for less and believe the lie that everything is OK. There's more to be done. Lord, help me see danger ahead of time and give me the courage to take action on it. Let me see things through your perspective.

Civic Holiday

Was absolutely Fantastic!
  • Did a bible study on James 1 and went to Burrito Boyz.
  • Met up with my former workout partner Jonny, his g/f Celina to visit Shawn and his wife Lisa.
  • Sat in a hot tub next to a swimming pool by the lake. Ate burgers and enjoyed some Point Black white wine. I think it's called that, I forget. It's the wine Jon used to use for when we had curry or pizza parties back in university. I also got eaten by mosquitoes.
  • Reclaimed my title as Iron Chef according to Shawn's mom.
  • Picked fresh blueberries which taste amazing and went to Cobourg beach to swim with the waves.
  • Started playing Bohnanza and Settlers of Catan. Realized I'm not that great at either.
Short post. Friends are great. Somehow, getting used to not seeing them for months doesn't seem right.

This is much more difficult that expected, yet at the same time not surprising. I need serious discernment on what's next. I know I'm here to please God and not man. It's His work I'm doing not man's work. All in God's time.
