Starfield - Shipwreck

This song, off the "Beauty in the Broken album." is beautiful because it really speaks about the masks we put of to each other and God and how Jesus transforms us from the wrecks that we are to his redeemed children. I love the chorus "I am just a beggar here at Your door. I am just a shipwreck here on Your shore." because it speaks enormous volumes of grace. Highly recommended.

I built a fortress
With a hundred thousand faces
I'll keep it safe
With a hundred thousand more
But these masks are wearing thin
As You draw me in

I spent my time
On the empty and the fleeting
I spent my life
On much less than I'd dreamed
But I'm reaching out to you
To make me new

'Cause I am just a beggar here at Your door
I am just a shipwreck here on Your shore
I come empty handed
Ready to see
Your life in me changing who I've been
To who I need to be

You tell me my story
As You sift between the pages
I feel redemption
In the space between each turn

Could You take me in Your arms
And tell it just once more
Could You take me in Your arms
And tell it just once more
I used to think that people often get in the way of my ambitions. The more Jesus is revealed to me, the more I realize that people are my ambition.

Exposing My Broken Cantonese

So, I was getting fried rice and noodles for our potluck yesterday. And when I went up to order the guy started speaking to me in cantonese. I typically responded by pointing at the menu item. The only difference was that I actually tried to say the item in cantonese. "Uhhh...Yeung Jao Chow Fan?...XO Jeung Chow Haw" I'm sure he was either snickering or shaking his head. Whatever.

Coworkers on Facebook

Is it me, or do other people think it'd be weird to have your coworkers on your facebook list? If I were to be completely honest, it really isn't of interest to me to know the social/personal lives of the majority of my coworkers. If it were, I'd probably ask. Perhaps that sounds a bit harsh doesn't it. Maybe I need to work on that. Not that it means adding my coworkers on facebook anytime soon.

Hard work pays off

My company gave me basketball tickets for doing a really amazing job for the LEED submission of one of our projects. At first I was looking at the back of it. I was like "FAN 590, what is this?" And then my jaw dropped when I saw it was Row 11 seats. ROW 11!!!!!!!!

Yeah Books!

I just bought the book Creating Community: 5 Keys to Building A Small Group Culture by Andy Stanley. Andy Stanley is the man! I've been itching to read his books! I miss reading Christian resources.

I've discovered iTunes radio and podcasts. My solution to listening to music without having to buy new stuff. Yeah! Now I can listen to John MacArthur, James MacDonald and Ravi Zacharias outside of 6-7 pm. Yes, I am a nerd in that way.
